This policy describes exactly what this website collects, where it goes, and what we do with it. It describes the site as actually built — nothing here is boilerplate.

What we collect

The only information this website collects is what you type into the booking request form. That is:

• Your name
• Your mobile number
• Your email address, if you choose to give one — the field is optional
• The style you are asking for
• Your preferred date and time of day
• Anything you write in the notes field

If you reached us by clicking an advertisement or a link, we also record which advertisement or link it was, and store that alongside your booking. It tells us which of our ads actually bring people in, and it says nothing about you personally. If you have accepted cookies, Meta is separately told that a booking was submitted — but not by whom, and not what was booked about you. See Cookies and tracking.

There is no account to create, no newsletter sign-up and no payment taken on this website. We do not ask for, and have no way to receive, your card details through this site.

Please do not put medical information in the notes field. If a scalp or skin condition affects your appointment, tell us in person or by phone instead.

How we use it

We use what you send for one purpose: arranging your appointment.

• To contact you and confirm your slot, normally by text
• To prepare for the style you have asked for
• To reach you if something about your appointment has to change

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone for marketing, and we do not send you marketing messages you did not ask for.

Where it is stored

This website is a static site with no server of its own. Booking requests are sent to and stored in a database hosted by Supabase, our data processor, and the salon is notified when a new request arrives. Access to that database is restricted: the website itself can add a new request and cannot read any request back.

Cookies and tracking

We ask before we track anything. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you accept Meta (Facebook) cookies. Until you choose, nothing is loaded and no cookie is set — we do not contact Facebook at all before you answer.

If you say no

Nothing happens. No Meta script is loaded, no Facebook cookie is set, and the website works exactly as it would otherwise. We remember your answer so you are not asked again on every page, and that memory is kept in your own browser.

If you say yes

We load the Meta pixel, which sets Facebook cookies and tells Meta that you visited, which service page you looked at, and whether you submitted a booking request. We use it for one purpose: to find out which of our adverts actually bring clients in, so we are not paying for adverts that do not work.

What is not sent: your name, your phone number, your email, your notes, or anything about your hair or your appointment. Meta receives that you took an action, not who you are or what you asked for.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, which removes your saved answer and the Facebook cookies together. You can also turn off ad personalisation in your own Facebook and Instagram settings.

What runs regardless

There is no Google Analytics on this site. If you arrive from an advertisement or a link, your browser holds on to which one it was for the length of that visit, so the detail is still there if you reach the booking form. That is kept in your browser's session storage, not a cookie; it is erased when you close the tab; no other website can read it; and it is only ever sent to us if you actually submit a booking. It happens whether or not you accept cookies, because it is how we know which advert to credit — and it involves no third party.

Third-party services

Two third parties are involved in running this site, and both can see technical information such as your IP address as a normal part of delivering it:

• Supabase — stores booking requests, as described above.
• Google Fonts — the typefaces on this site are loaded from Google's font servers, so Google receives the request for those files.
• Meta (Facebook) — only if you accept cookies. See Cookies and tracking above. If you decline, or have not answered, Meta receives nothing.

Our website host also keeps standard server logs of requests made to the site.

How long we keep it

We keep booking requests for as long as we need them to run the salon and to keep a record of appointments, and in any case no longer than three years after your most recent appointment. After that they are deleted.

Your choices

Write to booking@mimi-african-braiding-styling.com or call 571-426-0602 and you can ask us to:

• Tell you what information we hold about you
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete your details from our records
• Stop contacting you

You can reply STOP to any text message from us and we will stop texting you.

Children

We braid children's hair, but this website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from a child. A booking for a child should be made by their parent or guardian, using the parent's or guardian's contact details.
